You should never feel embarrased about your bookkeeping being unorganized, or in boxes, freezer bags or whatever.
This client hates bookkeeping and is so grateful that she can drop off her paperwork, and I turn into something that her Accountant can create the financial statements from, and prepare the Corporate Tax return.
I get asked this a lot but I do it for many reasons.
The businesses are owned by people I know, or places I shop often. This could be friends, acquaintences, or my clients and I want to help them and support them.
I love the product or the service that they are offering.
Every time I spend a dollar in this town with one of our independent businesses, whether it is a lawyer, clothes shop, birthday card or cupcake, it is spent again in this town, either on dance classes, grad gifts, redesigning their own websites, or donating to something and so on.
I am a business owner and I know how hard it is to put yourself out there on social media so I know that if someone has done that, then they have taken a lot of time and effort coming up with their posts.
If the businesses were not here, I know that our residential property tax bills would go up, and we risk the town becoming a ghost town which could lower house prices. After what most businesses owners have just been through, I feel that it is the least I can do to help them.
It is my hope that as we get back to normal that people will continue to shop in our town's independent stores and use local services.
So I challenge you, over the next week, repost 2-3 of your favorite small businesses posts. Maybe there is somewhere I have never been before or some little gem I have never heard of.
