About Us
We started CITY Chickens in 2021 to provide backyard chicken rentals to Okotoks & surrounding areas. The idea came out of love for chickens, fresh eggs and bringing joy of owning chickens to others. We are a small husband and wife team local to the Calgary area providing backyard chicken rentals from May – October.
Our chickens are raised on a farm nestled in the rolling pastures at the toe of the Foothills. We rent the following breeds: Lohmann Brown, Silkie, and Ameraucanas. These breeds are perfect for backyard chicken rentals because they are reliable egg laying hens and have calm temperaments.
In 2022, we partnered with our neighbor Cowie Co Farm to grow and expand our operations. Cowie Co Farm is located south of Calgary. The farm hosts our chickens throughout the winter months giving them access to fresh air and a superior quality of life. In the summer months these chickens are ready to enter your backyard to become rental chickens.
Our chickens are apart of our family. Enjoying fresh eggs daily is only one benefit of keeping chickens. Chickens provide countless hours of entertainment, connect you to the food you are eating and help reduce landfill waste.
