After already earning a certificate of training through Carson Dunlop, I decided to hire Gary for his one on one training and mentoring before doing my practical license test inspection. 3 days with Gary were every bit as, if not more, valuable in backing up months of book work. Gary has a huge amount of knowledge and a very wide breadth of experience. The training was worth every penny and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for training for anyone, and he'd definitely be the guy I would want to hire to inspect a home I was buying. Gary inspected a house for us. He is very responsive to emails and text messages, patiently and clearly answers questions, and very good at explaining things to a lay person. You know that he is in your court when you observe how thoroughly and meticulously inspects the home. The home inspection report was completed the morning after the inspection and was very well done with pictures, some video and clearly written descriptions of issues and recommended actions/followup. Gary found several issues with the house and one of the issues would have costs thousands to address. We plan on using Gary to inspect the another house in the near future.

Gary was incredibly flexible - as we had a bit of a crazy schedule to work around. He was easy to reach when we had to adjust times, and was amazingly accommodating! Through out the inspection he carefully explained things and patiently answered our questions. We have dealt with other inspectors in the past who have whipped through the house and while the inspection may have been completely accurate, we felt as though we were being a pain asking questions as the inspector was definitely rushed.. Dealing with Gary was completely the opposite. He took us through the inspection and was extremely thorough. This was a house that had lots of renovations to do and he gave us very detailed information about the house as well as shared his opinion (as a good friend or member of the family would do). He went above and beyond in every way, including contacting us well after we had received our report to let us know about a product on the market that could help us remedy one of the concerns we had about the house. Gary was instrumental in helping us make the decision of whether or not we wanted to go through with this purchase and we are writing because we want to share with others the excellent service he gave to us. Hopefully this is our last home purchase, but if not, we will definitely seek Gary's services again.

We got an 11th month warranty inspection done with Sherlock Homes Inspectors for our new home in Okotoks and we couldn't have chosen anyone better to do our inspection! Gary was on time, very thorough and inspected things we didn't even think of! He used thermal imaging during the home inspection and also gave us home maintenance tips as we went along. Gary – at Sherlock Homes Inspectors was awesome! The 420$ fee was well worth the money, as the inspection – which I’d describe as more of an investigation, nearly 4 hours worth, saved us almost 7,200$ after renegotiation with the problems Gary uncovered. Given my last home inspector experience - who I’ll spare the embarrassment of, charged me 450$ for 75 minutes with no end of issues that I later discovered - having purchased the property. Admittedly they were small issues, but it still cost me nearly 1,450$ to put right! The inspector said he’d deal with it but didn’t, all future calls then to this Redneck outfit, were either ignored or cut off – their loss, I shall never be using them again that’s for sure! Hired Sherlock Homes Inspectors to inspect & report on some electrical and construction work we’d had completed by a local company. We were very impressed by Gary from the word go! He spent just over 2 days going through various test procedures on the electrical system, and uncovered everything from some serious grounding issues, misaligned pot lights – some fitted with no fire protection, wiring reversed on receptacles & GFCI’s that failed using his high tech test equipment. Things were no better on the construction and heating side either, incorrect drywall used, located a gas leak too – although this was nothing to do with the builders. The report came and was just as impressive, we’re currently suing the builder and Gary as agreed to support & help us all the way, and appear as our witness too! We’re currently having remedial work carried out, and hired Gary to oversee things as to progress and standards… These days, reliable, trustworthy & professional people are hard to come by. As another poster said on Google, Gary is one of the good guys and his standards are second to none! He’s a straight shooter and tells you exactly how it is, you might not like what he says, but I can guarantee you no matter what - it will be the truth with no candy coating!
