Built Strong Athletics is beyond excited to announce this new addition! Coming to our class line up in the beginning of March, this class is not only for dancers, but also for athletes of all sport and activity levels!!
We're happy to welcome Kristen Pitt to the team and very excited to include her specialization to the roster!
Read about Kristen, and what PBT is all about!

Kristen Pitt is celebrating 20 years of teaching dance this year. Vancouver born, she trained in a variety of dance styles and traveled around Canada on the competition circuit. Even as she enjoyed success in the competitive field of dance, she was constantly challenging her creative mind and learning how each technique affected her body as an athlete. As a teacher, she sought a program that could help her athletes avoid injury and increase body awareness in their sport. She attended the first Canadian certification program for Progressing Ballet Technique in 2018 and she has been passionate about bringing PBT to her students ever since. This program is built for strengthening and conditioning, but more importantly for injury prevention purposes. Not only is it a great tool for dancers, but she has seen great success with her gymnasts, figure skaters and cheerleaders as well. In Alberta, Kristen has found a dedicated community of families that want the best for their young athletes. She has called Okotoks home since 2004 and is now proudly raising her 2 boys here with her husband.

What is Progressing Ballet Technique?
The program helps with injury prevention and rehabilitation and enhances the ability of athletes to perform at their best. It can be difficult for athletes to feel which muscles initiate the correct alignment in training. However, with the use of an exercise ball, the students gain a great sense of posture and weight-placement whilst feeling each correct muscle group working throughout each exercise, which then stays with them whilst performing in dance or their chosen field of sport

PBT focuses on core strength, weight placement and alignment of the body with a gradual approach of carefully designed exercises and repetitions of these exercises that trigger their muscle memory.
PBT is not only a program to improve technique in ballet dancers, it is now being appreciated and incorporated in training by all forms of dancers, athletes and physiotherapists.

Kristen is excited to join the Built Strong Athletics team and looks forward to seeing you on the Ball!
